And Dr. Johnson says: "If you feel pain in the joints, muscles, bones, or anything associated with chest pain, this is an indication that you will stop exercising immediately."

Mrs. Ryan and Dr. Johnson agree that the easiest way to tell if you feel pain or discomfort is to stop exercising.
"A little bit of a burn that disappears when your muscles stop working are often just the result of an exercise, so it's OK to keep going," says Ryan.
"But if it continues and you're experiencing, for example, severe pain in your knees or painful hamstring pain that affects your ability to continue to move, then it is probably pain because you have crossed it, so you need to stop."
